Fatigue problems caused by rail-wheel contacts, generated by rail traffic, are among the most difficult mechanical problems.
These moving contacts generate complex three-dimensional plastic deformations that are difficult to evaluate with conventional finite elements codes. Furthermore, the generated stresses vary in a multiaxial way. The research of the founders of MECAMIX helps to overcome these difficulties.
MECAMIX has created MXDVRAIL , unique and novel software dedicated to design of rail with respect of fatigue. It is the only tool that allows:
- To calculate the asymptotic internal mechanical state of the rail resulting from traffic
- To predict the risk of fatigue crack initiation due to repeated rail-wheel moving contacts (shelling, kidney shape crack, squat, head-check...)- To predict crack propagation until the final rupture
- To offer comprehensive approach for designing and maintenance of rail
MECAMIX has also created MXDVWHEEL , a similar software dedicated to calculating the fatigue of wheels of the railway industry.
MECAMIX has the skills to:
- Model the welding process by aluminothermy, in order to define the optimal operating parameters to minimize internal stresses
MECAMIX also has, with the MXDVFAT software , efficient calculation methods, which allow the design with respect of fatigue of rolling stocks.
- Fatigue of mechano-welded structures under multiaxial loading
- Vibration fatigue with the development of new spectral and modal approaches (extension of the Dang Van criterion)
